China is full of surprises. This is where the “why” gets interesting.

WHY CHINA?

Most people think they know China.
Then they get there.

China doesn’t fit neatly into one idea—and that is exactly the point. It is ancient and audacious, serene and electric, deeply traditional and already living in tomorrow.

Give me the good stuff ↓

The Great Wall. Yes, it earns the hype.

BECAUSE WHERE ELSE?

So many sides of China.
All in one trip.

And that’s before a panda makes eye contact.

Walk the Great Wall, feast on dumplings, glide between cities by high-speed train, and trade neon skylines for a quiet village teahouse.

China’s famous sights are only the beginning. The contrasts—and the everyday warmth of its people—are what stay with you long after the trip.

SIX VERY GOOD REASONS

The appeal is big.
So is the country.

No single postcard
can hold all of China.

01 / HISTORY YOU CAN STAND INSIDE

The icons don’t whisper.

The Great Wall crosses mountains. The Forbidden City unfolds courtyard after courtyard. Thousands of Terracotta Warriors stare back from another age. China’s history is not tucked behind glass—it surrounds you, and it has a flair for the dramatic.

02 / THE FUTURE, RIGHT NOW

Tomorrow has excellent lighting.

Hong Kong lights up the harbor. Shanghai glows. Chongqing stacks roads, rails, and towers into a city that feels almost cinematic. High-speed trains turn vast distances into smooth travel days. The surprise is not simply that China is modern—it is how confidently the old and new share the same street.

Then China turns down the volume.

After the cities, the scenery changes the rhythm. The Yangtze threads through the Three Gorges, mountains rise from the mist, and the journey itself becomes part of the destination. It is the moment many travelers realize China is bigger—and more beautiful—than the version they pictured.

04 / A COUNTRY BEST TASTED

Come hungry. This is not a suggestion.

There is no single “Chinese food.” There are regional flavors, family recipes, night markets, delicate dumplings, hand-pulled noodles, fiery hot pot, and discoveries you will spend years trying to order back home.

05 / THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PLACE

The warmest surprise is human.

A shared laugh needs very little translation. Again and again, it is the generosity, humor, curiosity, and welcome of the people that travelers remember most. The famous sights get you there. The human connections change the story you take home.

06 / CHINA’S PLAYFUL SIDE

China knows how to make you smile.

For all its epic history, immense cities, and dramatic landscapes, China is also filled with moments of pure, uncomplicated joy. Watching giant pandas climb, tumble, and devote themselves wholeheartedly to bamboo is one of them. It’s impossible not to smile—and that, too, is part of the China you came to discover.

CHINA, IN THEIR OWN WORDS

The best case for China?
Travelers who have been.

I can tell you China surprises people. Better yet, listen to travelers who experienced it for themselves—and came home with stories of their own.

Two minutes. Real travelers. Quite a few assumptions pleasantly rearranged.

THE QUESTIONS BEHIND THE QUESTION

“China sounds amazing, but…”

Fair. China is big, unfamiliar, and not a trip most people plan on autopilot. That doesn’t make it unapproachable. It makes the right preparation—and the right people on the ground—matter.

“It wasn’t what I expected. It was better.”
01

Will it feel difficult?

Some details work differently: entry requirements, payments, apps, language, and internet access. With the setup handled before you go and expert local support while you are there, complexity becomes a plan—not a roadblock.

02

Will I be comfortable?

China pairs world-class hotels and remarkably efficient transportation with days that can be gloriously full. The art is choosing the right route, the right pace, and enough breathing room to enjoy what you came so far to see.

03

Will I feel connected?

You may not speak the language, but welcome travels well. A good guide opens the door; curiosity does the rest. Often, the everyday exchanges become the moments that shift a traveler’s whole perception.

04

Is it right for me?

If you’re curious, open to the unexpected, and ready to have a few assumptions pleasantly rearranged, China may be exactly right for you. You don’t need to know precisely what to expect—just be willing to be surprised.

WHY I KEEP GOING BACK

China refuses to stay in one box.
I like that about it.

I’ve traveled through Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin, Chongqing, the Yangtze, Shanghai, and beyond—and every trip has challenged something I thought I understood.

I’ve also watched first-time travelers arrive with questions and a healthy dose of skepticism, then light up at the scale, the energy, the ease of the trains, the beauty of the landscapes, and the warmth of the people.

I created Go2ChinaWithMe because China deserves to be experienced beyond the assumptions. I want to open travelers’ eyes to how extraordinary the country really is, expand their horizons, and help each person find the China journey that feels genuinely their own.

STILL ASKING WHY CHINA?

Good. Curiosity is exactly where the trip starts.

Come for the icons. Leave with a whole new view of China—and probably a very strong opinion about dumplings.
